Alumni Sharing: An Introduction & Exploration Of Potential Studies In The Field Of Zoology

The Biology Department Program called "Alumni Relations" conducts routine activities within the Biology Department of FMIPA Untan. The purpose of these activities is to provide biology students with insights into the job market and current employment opportunities. On Saturday, August 31, 2024, a discussion with alumni was held under the theme "Introduction and Exploration of Potential Studies of Interest in Zoology for students interested in this field. This event was organized in collaboration with the Biology Department of FMIPA Untan, the Biology Alumni Association (IKABIO) FMIPA Untan, and the Laboratory of Zoology and Hydrobiology. The speaker for the event was Muhammad Sulthaanan, S.Si., an alumnus of the Biology Study Program who graduated in 2022 and is currently employed at a biodiversity-focused independent institution in West Kalimantan. During the session, he provided valuable information regarding the career opportunities available to biology graduates and highlighted current trends in conservation and biodiversity protection, particularly in the field of zoology. Dr. Junardi, M.Sc., the Head of the Zoology and Hydrobiology Laboratory, emphasized the importance of sustaining such activities to ensure that biology students remain informed about ongoing research and career potentials in the field. Dr. Kustiati, the Chair of the Biology Department, also expressed strong support for these informative initiatives, recognizing their role in helping biology graduates navigate the job market and joined-research opportunity in the future.
