The 2024 biodiversity protection and bioprospecting development workshop was held at the Golden Tulip Pontianak Hotel, organized by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) with the theme of natural resource protection and bioprospecting. The workshop was attended by researchers from BKSDA and BKSDA partner universities, namely Gadjah Mada University, IPB University, and Tanjungpura University. The Biology Study Program is one of BKSDA's research partners regarding the diversity and potential of substrate microbial bioprospecting from endemic Nephentes clipeata in the Bukit Kelam Area of Sintang Regency. Two lecturers from the Biology Study Program, namely Rikhsan Kurniatuhadi, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr. Siti Ifadatin, M.Si. had the opportunity to be speakers at the workshop which was held in a hybrid manner and attended by more than 3000 participants from all over Indonesia. The two speakers raised the results of collaborative research between the Biology Department, FMIPA UNTAN and the West Kalimantan BKSDA related to the exploration and screening of microbial potential isolated from the N. clipeata substrate entitled "Potential Microbes from N.clipeata Substrate and Their Bioprospecting Potential". The research results that were presented in the seminar showed that groups of potential cellulolytic and phosphate-solvent microbes in the form of bacteria, actinobacteria, and molds were successfully isolated and cultured to continue research related to their potential as biofertilizers that can be applied to N. clipeata plants and other plants. The results of this research are important to support the conservation of N.clipeata, whose number of individuals has decreased to 13 clumps in Bukit Kelam. This research supports the conservation and utilization of bioprospecting for biological resources, especially N.clipeata.
