The Biology Alumni Association (IKABIO), in collaboration with the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Tanjungpura University, convened a Joint Meeting on Sunday, October 13, 2024. The agenda included the presentation of performance reports detailing activities conducted from 2017 to 2024, as well as discussions regarding the election of a new Chairperson for the Biology Alumni Association (IKABIO). This meeting took place in the Meeting Room of the Old Building at FMIPA UNTAN and was attended by Drs. Cucu Suhery, M.Kom, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, alongside Dr. Kustiati, M.Si, the Head of the Biology Department. The event was conducted in a hybrid format and commenced with opening remarks from the Vice Dean 3 of FMIPA UNTAN. This was followed by a presentation of the IKABIO performance report delivered by Muhammad Khotiem, S.Si, the Head of IKABIO. The discussions highlighted several areas for improvement concerning the biology student enrichment program, particularly through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) and Teaching Practitioner programs, which aim to engage Biology alumni who have been active on both national and international levels. Furthermore, there is a need to enhance social programs, especially those focused on community development, in collaboration with the Biology Department, the Biology Student Association, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Among the initiatives undertaken by IKABIO are the collection of graduate data, alumni career mapping, and a networking program for alumni from various regencies, which includes information on job vacancies available for recent graduates of the Biology Department. Drs. Cucu Suhery expressed significant appreciation for IKABIO's performance, noting that it is the only department-level organization within FMIPA that has successfully implemented relevant activities aimed at enhancing collaboration and facilitating alumni integration into the workforce. He remarked that the IKABIO Joint Meeting represents one of the inaugural alumni performance meetings within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The event concluded with the election of the new IKABIO Chairperson, with Luqman, S.Si., S.Pd.I being elected to this position.
