Nata de Pina is a beverage developed by students and faculty members of the Biology Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University. It has been introduced on campus as a refreshing and healthful drink. This product is the result of research conducted by biology student Syarifah Risna Khairunisa, under the supervision of Dr. Siti Khotimah, M.Sc., and Rahmawati, S.Si., M.Sc. The Nata de Pina beverage is produced using pineapple as the primary raw material, along with the Acetobacter xylinum starter culture and a nitrogen source derived from mung bean sprout extract, which serves as an organic nitrogen source in place of Urea ZA. The final product features nata combined with pineapple syrup and pieces of pineapple, all of which are hygienically packaged. The development of this product, particularly through the utilization of high-quality domestic raw materials and the processing of food waste, is a key focus of the Biology Department at FMIPA UNTAN. This initiative aims to produce high-quality local products and foster entrepreneurship among biology students.
